Our Specialities
Glaucoma Diagnosis and Treatment
At MECC, every patient is screened for glaucoma as a part of the routine examination. We use a non-contact tonometer to check eye pressure ,and the Goldman’s Applanation, which is the gold standard, to follow up and monitor high pressures.
Our advanced glaucoma diagnostics include Automated perimetry, Scheimpflug images to visualize the anterior chamber angles, Optical coherence tomography (OCT) of the retinal nerve fibre. OCT-Optic nerve head to analyse damage by glaucoma which can detect any earlysign of damage at the earliest way before it can manifest as a visual defect.
Management is usually with eye drops and medication, however in few cases glaucoma surgery is recommended and carried out at our surgical centre.
In cases of Angle closure glaucoma or suspects, we are equipped with Nd Yag laser for performing iridotomy to open the angle blockage.
